OCZ Introduces New Class of Enterprise SATA SSD


OCZ Saber 1000 Series

On November 20, 2014, OCZ Storage Solutions introduced their new class of enterprise SATA SSD, the Saber 1000 Series. Designed for read intensive applications targeting high volume deployment hyperscale, webhosting, and distributed computing environments, the Saber 1000 series is able to meet these applications along with easier deployment. The new series utilizes A19nm flash and has capacity sizes of 240GB, 480GB, and 960GB. OCZ’s Barefoot 3 controller and firmware is also integrated which provides constant continued I/O performance across all capacities to accelerate enterprise applications.

Specifications of the unit are considered at the top of its competitive class which include 550 MB/s sequential reads (128KB blocks), 470 MB/s for sequential writes (128KB blocks), 98,000 IOPS for random reads (4KB blocks), and 20,000 IOPS for random writes (4KB blocks). The Saber 1000 series will also be able to maintain under sudden power loss. Using Power Failure Management Plus (PFM+) the series of SSDs will be able to maintain the circuitry to guarantee the integrity of the unit for full operation when power is restored.

OCZ Storage Solutions is an American based company that primarily manufactures solid state drives. Originally its own entity, OCZ is now a subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation after it was purchased for $35 Million in 2013 due to bankruptcy. With a their target market being computer hardware enthusiasts, the company also produces DDR RAM, video cards, USB drives, and cooling products. Their SSD devices are produced with SATA III, PCI Express, Serial attached SCS, and USB 3.0 interfaces.Users are used by both consumers and enterprise applications.
